Just 1 pubescens

Post by ChilliJez » Fri Oct 27, 2017 12:39 pm

I've managed to convince myself that I can fit a pubescens plant into my grow for 2018. Here is the simple question; if you could only grow one, which variety would you choose?

I'm aware that some varieties aren't fully self fertile. Yield would be a priority and the plant will outside from about June onwards.

Thanks for any advice you can give. :P

The plant would be in an 11 litre SWP and could be big as it would be trained in and out of railings on a balcony.

Varieties I'm inclining towards are Aji Lucento, essentially because of the back story, Montufar seeing the yield Rauno has achieved (!), Rio Huallaga...

Advice most welcome.

I don't know anything about Lucento but Montufar and Rio Huallaga are monsters.

I can vouch for Rio Haullaga, I've had a plant outside since June in a bucket and it's still going like a train! Image

Thick walled and juicy as you would expect, surprising amount of heat too!

If it’s to go in a communal area, with light foot traffic, I would consider one of the Mini Rocotos. Smaller, lighter and a lot less likely to be knocked off the plant, by shopping bags and the likes. My fav is Mini Rocoto Yellow. Great flavour too.
