What chilli is this

Post by sargeantpicko »

I planted 3 chillies a while back and my daughter knocked them all over, I replanted them but only one started to regrow.
Can anyone tell me which chilli this is.
I planted originally
1 chocolate naga
1 carolina reaper
1 big yellow mama.

Welcome to the forum and the addictive world of chilli growing!

How upsetting that you lost most of your plants. I bet your daughter wasn't flavour of the week.

Given how broad the leaves are, I would tend towards the big yellow mama but I'm really not sure. It could be a reaper. Probably not the naga. You'll know when it gets some pods!

my guess would be reaper but difficult to tell based on leaves alone.

Fotos of flowers, pods and growth habit will be helpful, too.

What does everyone feed their chillies? Currently I'm using chilli focus but is there something better?

Still saying your mystery is not the naga, but one of the other two. I still favour BYM but that's just a guess as I've never grown it myself.

This year I've been feeding mostly Miracle Gro; the plants seem to like it although I have had quite a lot of tiny pods this year but I think that was weather related rather than feeding - could be the feeding, though. I've also used some Chilli Focus and some Liquid Seaweed. Lots of people swear by all sorts of concoctions though so someone else will probably be along in a minute to recommend other products.
